Permit Written Test

Teenagers

  1. At least 15 1/2 years old
  2. DMV Application signed by parent
  3. Original County Birth Certificate or Passport
  4. $31--cash or check payable to DMV
  5. Social Security Card or number ready
  6. Completion Certificate of Drivers Education. Blue (OL-237)
  7. Enrollment of Drivers Training Certificate. White (OL-392)


Adults

  1. Documents of legal presence
  2. Dmv Application filled out and signed
  3. $31--cash or check payable to DMV
  4. Social Security Card or number ready
  5. Have read and understood the "california Driver Handbook"


Behind-the-Wheel License Test

Teenagers

  1. At least 16 yrs old & practice with parents for 6 months
  2. Completion Certificate of behind-the-Wheel 6 hours. Gold (OL-238)
  3. Vehicle's Valid Registration & Insurance.
  4. Vehicle mechanical works properly: tires, signal lights, horn, wipers, etc.
  5. Parent signature on permit verifying minimum practice time (50 hrs)


Adults

  1. Complying requirements listed on a permit
  2. A valid permit
  3. Vehicle's Valid registration & Insurance
  4. Vehicle mechanical works properly: tires, signal, lights, horn, wipers, etc.
