Test costs

$41 will cover both written test and behing-the-wheel test for one year.

Do not underestimate the test

We want you to prepared as much as possible, and for that reason we have build our ONLINE Drivers Ed course  to provide you will all of the resources needed to pass the test.

Test Samples

The written test is a 46-question multiple-choice test. To receive a learner's permit you are allow to miss no more than 8 questions. There is no time limit but keep in mind that DMV will not allow people to take a test after 4:30pm. Check out five DMV sample written tests to test your knowledge.

Permit Requirements

• Teenagers

1. Validating the permit is required before practicing with anyone over 25 years of age with a license. Validation comes when you take the first lesson with a driving instructor.
2. Make sure you completed 6 hours for Drivers Training with a Driving School and received a certificate as evidence.
3. Practice for at least 6 months before you can apply for a license.
4. Have completed 50 hours of practice with an adult 25 years or older with a valid license and certify to the 50 hours of practice. At least 10 of the 50 hours must have been done at night.
5. Permits have a one-year time limit. If you do not take a behind-the-wheel test before that, it will expire and you will need to start all over again.

• Adults

1. When you practice, you must have an accompanying adult who is 18 years of age or older, with a valid California license. This person must be close enough to you to take control of the vehicle if necessary. It is illegal for you to drive alone.

Once you've passed your written test

EZ Street will train you for three days, 2 hours per lesson. Because we know that each student posses different levels of skills, we will modify each lesson accordingly but we have a basis for each lesson.

  Behind-the-Wheel Driver License Test

You will have 15-30 minutes to demonstrate your safe driving skills and what you have learned in your driving lessons.

The vehicle must be in good condition, so don't forget to check the
Safe Driver Checklist before taking your test.

To pass, you will have to complete the test without an automatic disqualification or obtain less than 15 minor errors.

You have three chances to pass the driving test. If you fail, you may practice for a while, then make another appointment. There is no waiting period for adults, but teenagers need to wait two weeks before they can came back to retake it.

If you fail to successfully complete the driving test on the first attempt, you must pay a $8 fee for each additional driving test that is administered under an application for an original or renewal driver license.

If you have a license from another country, you will be required to take a driving test. If you have a license from another state, the driving test can be waived.

2. Completion certificate of 6 hrs. behind-the-wheel course (Gold).
3. Parents signature on permit verifying minimum practice time of 50 hrs.
4. A vehicle that is functioning properly: tires, signals, horn, wipers, etc.
5. Vehicle's valid registration and insurance.

• Adults

1. Comply with permit requirements
